​The home-made bobbin lace was marketed internationally. The tradition of craftsmanship, the typical local patterns and the solid quality were emphasised. This was one of the reasons why the bobbin lace makers appeared in their typical local costumes. The laces from the Prettau bobbin lace school were also subject to strict controls by an official commission before they were sold.
The lace makers demonstrated their art at numerous fairs. Rosa Kofler was present at the first fair in Bolzano in 1948 and delighted the audience. She herself was not so enthusiastic, however, as she told an acquaintance from Prettau that everything was far too expensive, even for the privy they had to pay 100 lire.
